History & Mission of the Club

Rotary eClub Ibiza International (ReCII)
officially came to life on May 27th, 2024.

Our club was established with the goal of bringing together passionate individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in both the local community of Ibiza and beyond.

Inspired by the ethos of Rotary International, ReCII aims to foster fellowship, promote service above self, and address pressing social issues through innovative solutions.

Our mission is to connect a diverse group of people who share a commitment to creating lasting change and enhancing the well-being of communities worldwide.

Rotary International's Principles and Values

Rotary International, founded in 1905, is a global organization committed to humanitarian service, ethical standards in business and professions, and the promotion of goodwill and peace around the world.

The principles and values that guide Rotary clubs worldwide are encapsulated in Rotary's Four-Way Test and the Avenues of Service:

1. The Four-Way Test:

- Is it the TRUTH?

- Is it FAIR to all concerned?

- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

2. Avenues of Service:

- Club Service: Focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs.

- Vocational Service: Encourages Rotarians to serve others through their professions and to practice high ethical standards.

- Community Service: Covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community.

- International Service: Encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary's humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace.

- Youth Service: Recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs.

Information About the Local Chapter

The Rotary eClub Ibiza International operates with a unique structure that leverages both virtual and in-person interactions to maximize engagement and impact.

We meet four times a month: three of these meetings are held virtually online, allowing members from around the world to participate, and once a month we gather in person to strengthen our bonds and enjoy fellowship.

These meetings are distinct from our project work, which often requires additional interactions and collaboration.

As a newly founded club, we are already actively discussing our primary projects for the 2024/25 year.

Our focus is on addressing local needs in Ibiza while also contributing to international Rotary initiatives.

One unique aspect of our chapter is that our chosen language of communication is English. This decision was made to facilitate inclusivity among the diverse immigrant population that calls Ibiza home.

Our membership spans a wealth of nationalities, including Dutch, German, English, and beyond, reflecting the multicultural fabric of our community.

Join us at Rotary eClub Ibiza International and become part of a vibrant, dedicated group of individuals working together to make a difference both locally and globally.

ReCII Board of Directors (2024)

  • President

Denise is a seasoned lawyer specializing in real estate law and has been running her own law firm in Ibiza since 2007.

She joined Rotary in 2012, motivated by a strong belief in the spirit of Rotary and its potential to make the world a better place. One of her most memorable projects has been co-founding the Rotary Action Group for Menstrual Health & Hygiene (RAGMHH), a global initiative that helps keep girls in school and promotes healthier, more affordable, and environmentally friendly sanitary products. Denise feels the true magic of Rotary through her involvement in this project. Additionally, she deeply appreciates every opportunity to carry out projects for the community of Ibiza, feeling grateful to give back to the island she loves.

Outside of her professional and Rotary commitments, Denise's biggest hobby is spending time with people and listening to their life stories. She is fascinated by the different paths people take in life and enjoys learning from their experiences. In her free time, Denise loves engaging in sports, being with good people, and listening to loud music.

As the founding president of the Rotary eClub Ibiza International, Denise is thrilled to see the club's existence and the motivation of its members. Her goal is to help the group grow as a cohesive team, fostering friendships and mutual respect among members while upholding the values of Rotary in serving the community.

Denise is committed to contributing to the Rotary Club’s mission by living her life in a way that serves as a good example to others. She promises to give the best of herself in all her endeavors.

An interesting fact about Denise is that she counts the steps when climbing stairs, although she often forgets the number by the time she reaches the top. When facing challenges, she finds inspiration in the song "Unstoppable" by Sia, listening to it on high volume to remind herself that she can overcome any obstacle.
