An Evening of Solidarity

On June 25th, a small number of us who were free had the pleasure of attending an excellent event organized by Rotary Club Ibiza

Rotary Club Ibiza is a traditional and well-established club on the island, primarily operating in Spanish.

In contrast, Rotary eClub Ibiza International (ReCII) is a newer, Ibiza-based club where English is the designated member language. More details on the differences between how a traditional and eClub operate can be found here: Get Involved!

Now, to the event!…

An Evening of Inspiration and Community

- with Rotary Club Ibiza

The event, aptly named "I am supportive. How can I help?" (translated), was a celebration of solidarity and community spirit.

Highlights from the Event

The evening kicked off with uplifting speeches from:

- Nuria Jauma, the President of Rotary Club Ibiza

- Carolina Escandell, the Social Wellbeing Counselor

- Antonia Picó, the Second Deputy Mayor of Santa Eulalia

They shared inspiring stories of their work and the importance of community support.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was the round table discussion. We heard from incredible individuals like:

- Mar Ferre, the Coordinator of Asociación Asperger Ibiza y Formentera

- Marisina Marí, President of Fundación Conciencia

- Vicente Torres Ferrer from Plataforma Sociosanitaria de Ibiza y Formentera

They passionately discussed the amazing work their organizations are doing and the challenges they face.

Powerful Presentations

The presentations were equally engaging. Vicente Arbona's talk on the fiscal benefits of donations was particularly enlightening. He explained how both individuals and companies can benefit from donating, making it a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Joan Torres from Caritas shared a truly touching story about Vibra Hotels. With the help of 20 other companies, they transformed the Caritas shelter in Ibiza into a modern, dignified hostel for 21 people. Hearing about the happiness and satisfaction on the faces of everyone involved was incredibly moving.

Yolanda Torres from Atzaró Fundraising also made a significant contribution to the evening with her enthusiastic encouragement on the personal fulfillment that comes from helping others. Her insights on how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference were both motivating and uplifting.

Learning and Connecting

Jordi Cubain (ADG, Rotary) wrapped up the evening with an energizing talk about Rotary.

He emphasized that Rotary is not just an NGO or association; we are action-oriented people who help turn ideas into reality. We build bridges between associations and donors and solve problems together.

Throughout the event, we made valuable connections, including chatting with Diego Riera from Caixa Social Action. We also learned so much about how we can contribute more effectively to our community.

Personal Reflections

Reflecting on the evening, it's clear that the power of solidarity is immense.

Joan Torres' story about the Caritas shelter renovation was a standout moment for many of us, highlighting the joy and fulfillment that comes from helping others.

For our club, this event reinforced the importance of turning ideas into action.

We left feeling inspired and motivated, with new ideas and potential partnerships to explore. The insights we gained and the connections we made will undoubtedly benefit our ongoing projects and initiatives.

The "I am supportive. How can I help?" event was a beautiful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a community. We're excited to take what we've learned and continue making a positive impact in Ibiza and beyond.

We thank Rotary Club Ibiza for this wonderful, superbly well organised event!
